Michael Rosman and Bruce Silverman, the co-founders of EZ Outsourcing Solutions, are North Americans who have walked in your shoes. Michael was asked in a recent interview, “What led you to the outsourcing industry?”
He responded, “Almost ten years ago, my consulting business in Boston, Massachusetts, began to take off. I needed more labor to help service my existing clients and strategically plan for growth. But I had a problem. My aspirations exceeded my budget. A friend suggested, “Have you considered outsourcing?” My response was, “What is outsourcing? ”
Thus, the journey began. Ideally, I wanted lead generators, appointment setters, technical support staff, a virtual assistant, and help with my website. I spent weeks talking to dozens of companies in the United States and Canada that provided these services. The bottom line was that I couldn’t afford the cost.
My friend suggested, “Why don’t you try independent freelancers from companies like UpWork (formerly Odesk and Elance)? They will be less expensive.” So I tried that for about a year, with mixed results. Yes, it was more affordable, but managing a staff of independent freelancers was time-consuming and frustrating. There were technical limitations and a lack of cohesiveness and consistency. Discouraged but determined, I contacted my friend and asked, “What’s next?” She said, “I think you should try to find a company in The Philippines to help you.” My response was, “Where is the Philippines?
Thus began the journey that led to the best business decision I ever made. After looking at a world map and discovering that The Philippines was in Southeast Asia, the exhaustive research process began again. I spent the next few weeks talking to dozens of companies in The Philippines, most of them in Manila. I liked the concept of working with one company that provided the technology, infrastructure, and multi-faceted labor pool of employees with different skill sets and areas of expertise. And the price was right – about one-third of what a North-American company would cost.
However, my head began pounding as I furiously noted the different requirements each company mandated. I needed to contract with a minimum of five agents for six months or three agents for one year.
I wanted to find a company that would allow me to hire one or two agents for one of two months. Persistence pays. Finally, I talked to a company with all the services I was seeking. When they suggested, “Why don’t you hire one full-time Agent for one month and see how it goes,” I was ecstatic. When they added, “we will help with training also,” I knew I had hit paydirt.
In summary, I spent years searching for the perfect fit. Today, I have a thriving consulting business and successfully help bridge North American companies to ezOutsourcing Solutions, the ideal outsourcing partner.
